In high school I had dozens of pen-pals, and we would circulate what we called "slams", which were a lot like these "confessions" you describe. Some years ago I posted one into my LJ.
You may also be interested in FB's, or "friendship books." A friend of mine is working on a book about them, but while we're waiting for it to be published, here are a handful of examples.
